Speed Up Windows 7 Tips
Windows 7 Vs Windows XP/Vista
Microsoft claims that Windows 7 is a lot faster than Vista or XP, but is it really so? There are so many factors to getting a faster performance pc, especially considering hardware and the programs you run, but there are some simple tweaks you can use to get a better performance.
Two quick examples:
1. Use the 64bit version. Why?
Because as we know Windows needs RAM (memory) and the more you have the better as Windows has to do less work with the hard drive. But to be able to use more that 3GB properly you have to use the 64bit version of the OS.
As well as being able to recognise and use the extra memory, Windows uses your PC’s processor much more effectively making sure you get the best possible experience.
If you buy the Windows 7 upgrade, you will find a 64bit install disc in the box, so use this if you can. Don’t forget to check your hardware is all compatible first.
2. Use Google Chrome browser. Why?
Because it has been shown in several tests that the Google Chrome browser can load internet pages 1-2 seconds faster than Firefox, Internet Explorer, Opera or Safari.
Ok, it may not sound like a lot but when you think that most people use their pc’s mainly for surfing and browsing, these seconds will add up and could save you valuable time.
I’ve just recently rebuilt a machine using Windows 7 so will keep you all updated with any useful tips or tweaks I can find over the coming weeks.
Cheers
Paul
